Whole Wheat Pizza

Pizza is an oven-baked, flat, disc-shaped bread typically topped with a tomato sauce, cheese and various toppings. Originating in Italy, from the Neapolitan cuisine, the dish has become popular in many parts of the world.

Here is a recipe for a thin pizza crust made of fresh ground whole wheat flour and fresh milled flax seeds.

Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cups Wheat Berries
  • 1/4 cup Flax Seeds
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Yeast
  • Tomato Sauce*
  • Cheese
  • Various Toppings (optional)

Directions
  1. Use Vitamix Super 5200 Dry Container to grind wheat berries for one minute. (See a demo)
  2. Use Vitamix Super 5200 Dry Container to mill flax seeds for 5 seconds.
  3. Add water and yeast to the fresh ground whole wheat flour and milled flax seeds.  Mix, knead the dough well and let it rise to double size.
  4. Put the Cast Iron Skillet in the oven and heat oven to 400 degrees.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 pieces; roll each piece into disk-shaped about the size of the Cast Iron Skillet.
  6. When the oven is preheated, take out the cast iron skillet, and put the pizza crust in the skillet.  (Be very carefully, the skillet is very hot now.)
  7. Let the crust stay in the skillet for about 30 seconds, then turn the crust over.
  8. Spread pizza source and cheese, and your favorite toppings on top of crust.
  9. Bake until cheese turns partially brown.
  10. Repeat the process for the other pieces.
  11. Enjoy!
