Pizza is an oven-baked, flat, disc-shaped bread typically topped with a tomato sauce, cheese and various toppings. Originating in Italy, from the Neapolitan cuisine, the dish has become popular in many parts of the world.
Here is a recipe for a thin pizza crust made of fresh ground whole wheat flour and fresh milled flax seeds.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups Wheat Berries
- 1/4 cup Flax Seeds
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 teaspoon Yeast
- Tomato Sauce*
- Cheese
- Various Toppings (optional)
Directions
- Use Vitamix Super 5200 Dry Container to grind wheat berries for one minute. (See a demo)
- Use Vitamix Super 5200 Dry Container to mill flax seeds for 5 seconds.
- Add water and yeast to the fresh ground whole wheat flour and milled flax seeds. Mix, knead the dough well and let it rise to double size.
- Put the Cast Iron Skillet in the oven and heat oven to 400 degrees.
- Divide the dough into 8 pieces; roll each piece into disk-shaped about the size of the Cast Iron Skillet.
- When the oven is preheated, take out the cast iron skillet, and put the pizza crust in the skillet. (Be very carefully, the skillet is very hot now.)
- Let the crust stay in the skillet for about 30 seconds, then turn the crust over.
- Spread pizza source and cheese, and your favorite toppings on top of crust.
- Bake until cheese turns partially brown.
- Repeat the process for the other pieces.
- Enjoy!
